Upper Peak rentals closing

Dear Upper Peak customer,

I regret to inform you that I have decide to close down Upper Peak rentals. Its last day of operation will be on March 26th 2010. After this date I will no longer be offering rentals. Any residual days on your rental will be refunded to you in full. The decision to close down Upper Peak rentals was not an easy one as I enjoyed the many encounters over the past year.

I would like to thank all patrons that have used my services since Upper Peak reantals was started in February 2009. Upper Peak rentals could not have been as succesful as it was without your loyalty.

Upper Peak Shubelik

Fortress

Peak Projects

Many pieces of furniture found at Upper Peak rentals are available for sale at Peak Projects. Other items can also be found to furnish and decorate your current or future home in SL.

Everything low prim usage. Single prim ceiling fans, chairs and tables. Also 6 prims or less clocks and beds. Superb 12 prims or less spas. Unique animated 1 prims picture frames.

Note that "animated beds" at rentals have an add-on that give it more poses than the version in store. The add-on is "no transfer" so not available on beds we sell.

Media players are not currently for sale because are designed for shared parcels, not for land owners. If demand is great enough, a "land owner" version will be put up for sale.

The Upper Peak radio

Needles to say that a radio from which you can choose your prefered music is an essential part of any home. The Upper Peak radio installed last month was meant to meet that often requested need. However, since it was installed, it has been a source of pleasure for some but frustration for most. This is why there is an entire post dedicated to this media player and it's replacement.

The first and biggest problem was that most streams if not all, would not work with with SL clients wunning on Windows^TM or MacOS^TM (which regrettably represents 97% of SL clients).

Second, since the radio needed to be deeded to the land it was on to work, it also suffered from the "Dialog menus can fail when an object is deeded to a group" (SVC-1815) bug. (If you vote for it to be fixed it may be fixed sooner.)

Obviously a replacement was urgently needed. After many tests and hours of tweaking a replacement was finally made.

In the morning of May 3rd a new version of the radio that fixes both these issues will be installed at all locations.

First the scripts have been further modified to better handle specific types of streams under Windows^TM and MacOS^TM. The new radio now has something for every tastes with 52 streams including classical, jazz, lounge, progressive, ambient, world music and the list goes on. Be sure you have the “Play Streaming Media” option turned on in your Audio Preferences (press control-P) and the latest version of QuickTime^TM installed.

Second, the radio now accepts most of the menu commands by way of user chat in addition to the standard menu. This means that when the menu fails, you will still be able to change stations and play the selected stream. Chat commands are given on channel 97. i.e.: /97 PLAY

Here is the list of commands, all case sensitive:

/97 -10

Please note that in the same way that the menu works, you must give the PLAY command once you have selected a station or stream.

APRIL 29 UPDATE:

Chat commands are nice but why not use one of the greatest inventions of all time, the button. The radio to be installed on May 3rd will have it's own, giving direct access to your 6 presets. Also from the options menu it will be possible to choose from 12 colours that best suit your decor.

Cabin

Perfectly aged steel, copper and wood garnish your quarantine location. Equipped with a smoke free heating system and a variable speed cooling apparatus. You will find sleeping / recreational quarters at the bunker level and a meeting area for you and a few of your stranded friends at the cage level.
Santih

The Santih a place allowing for serenity, peace and calmness. Hidden in the depths of a jungle, wrapped in humidity, the Santih home is furnished with everything you need to forget about all but what is important to you. You will find a spa, an animated massage bed, a deep tub shower and a four post romantic bed.

There is a security system at your disposal in all rentals to keep unwanted guests out of your home.

How to rent an Upper Peak location

To rent a skybox you must first locate one that is available. Available syboxes are identified by the rental box size and image. A rental box identified as available is larger, higher and has a preview picture of the location to be rented.

Once you have chosen your new home from the available locations simply right click on the rental box above the teleporter of that location and select "Pay". The smallest amount on the Pay dialog box is for a period of one(1) week.

Once you have become resident you will get a group invitation from Upper Peak rentals shortly thereafter. You must be in this group to be able to place your own objects in your new home.

How to visit an Upper Peak location

Once you have located an available location simply touch the disk on the ground below it. This is a teleporter. When touched a green or blue teleport disk will appear above it. Touching this glowing disk will take you to the available location so you can visit it's surroundings. All doors are locked until someone rents that specific location. At that time the doors, security and teleporter will only work for this tenant. Extra guest can be added to the doors, teleporter or rental box to share rental costs.
